Animal shelter in place

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Evacuees are flooding into East Texas, and so are their four-legged friends.

The Nacogdoches Expo Center opened up as a shelter for the animals on Saturday. Crates are lined up from wall to wall. More than 70 animals have been brought in so far and dozens more are expected.

The Lufkin animal shelter is full but the Nacogdoches Expo says they won't turn anyone away and they still have plenty of room.

They do need toys and treats for the animals and also old towels for the crates. You can take donations to the Nacogdoches Expo Center.
