Art camp reception

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The kids who attended art camp this summer at the Museum of East Texas had their projects on display.

The artists walked parents and friends around the gallery to show them the works they created.

The camp offered classes on painting, clay work and several other specialities. "We want for the kids to have the same opportunities here in Lufkin as they do in bigger cities to be able to experience painting and making clay. A lot of these students haven't ever done art making in school," Laura Hudgins with the museum explained.

The museum says this summer was one of their most successful with more than 400 kids participating.
