New biomass plant

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A biomass plant will soon be going up in north Lufkin.

Aspen Power broke ground today at the site of its new facility on Kurth Drive. The plant is the first of its kind in Texas. They will use wood chips and wood waste to create electricity.

The plant is also expected to create hundreds of jobs and bring in millions of dollars to the economy.

Aspen power is projecting to be open by October of 2009.
