Remembering 9/11 seven years later

By Mystic Matthews

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - It's hard to believe the terrorist attacks that rocked our nation and the world happened seven years ago.

Many people in Lufkin say the 9/11 attacks seem like they happened just yesterday.

Thursday, flags were flying all over Lufkin from people determined not to forget the tragic day that took thousands of lives in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania.

Local residents attended a ceremony on 9/11 at the Angelina County Courthouse to pray and remember.

"I think it's a time to look back and see where were then and where we have come to now," says Leon Strickland, who attended Thursday's ceremony.

Those in attendance say they hope the nation will also continue to honor the brave men and women who rushed in to the burning buildings when everyone else rushed out.
