Angelina County Sheriff's Office investigating stabbing

ANGELINA COUNTY (KTRE) - The Angelina County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident that sent three people to the hospital late Saturday night, one of them with a stab wound.

According to Sgt. Bart Riley, the call came in from the Rivercrest community about a disturbance that might involve edged weapons.

36-year-old Joe Tubbs and a 16-year-old male, whose name is not being released because of his age, were transported to Woodland Heights Hospital. According to a hospital spokesman, both were treated and released. William Edwards, age unknown, was transported to Memorial Hospital. He was treated and released. Riley said all three had wounds from edged weapons.

Sheriff Kent Henson told KTRE that three people were detained and questioned at the scene, but none of them were arrested.

An anonymous tip into the KTRE Newsroom on Saturday night indicated that the incident might be connected to the Ku Klux Klan, but Henson told KTRE early Sunday morning that the evidence was leaning away from the KKK being involved.
