DIBOLL, TX (KTRE) - Nikki Greene has watched her stock grow over the summer. Several of the top women's basketball programs in the country wanted her commitment. Today the Diboll senior picked the underdog. Greene will sign with Penn State, turning down much more successful programs like Rutgers and Texas. Greene says she knows Penn State is the popular choice but she had to go with her heart.
"When I was freshman, Diboll wasn't good," Greene says. "So I kind of compared Penn State like Diboll. If I go to Penn State it can be established into a good program just like Diboll was when I was a freshman. Build the program up."
Greene listed as the number 19 prospect in the entire country by ESPN HoopGurlz. She can't officially sign with Penn State until November.
