Murder investigation in Crockett

CROCKETT (KTRE) - A Crockett man has been arrested and charged with murder.

21-year-old Courtney Antoine Benton is accused of shooting Steven Wayne McCullough, aka "Uncle Johnny."

McCullough was found dead in his car just after 2:00 a.m. on September 17th on Stokes Street in Crockett. An autopsy confirmed that McCullough died as a result of wounds sustained from a .22 caliber gunshot.

Benton was arrested on September 18th, and his case will be turned over to the Houston County District Attorney's office. Other charges could still be filed.
