Shelby County man charged with killing son after altercation

SHELBY COUNTY (KTRE) - Shelby County Sheriff Newton Johnson reports that on September 29, 2008 at approximately 5:00 p.m. the Shelby County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call that a shooting had occurred at the residence of Arthur Gene Cloudy which is located, on Hwy 7 E. near Joaquin.

Upon arrival officers observed 26 year old Mario Cloudy laying in the front yard with what appeared to be a gun shot wound to the head.  Upon further investigation revealed that an altercation had taken place between Mr. Cloudy and his son Mario.  During the course of the altercation Mario was shot and later died at LSU in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Arthur Gene Cloudy was originally charged with Assault with a deadly weapon, however after the death of Mario Cloudy the charge was upgraded to 1st degree Murder.

Arthur Gene Cloudy is currently in the Shelby County Jail with a bond set at $100,000.00 per JP1 Judge Osborne.
