Cleveland Police searching for Capital Murder suspect

CLEVELAND, TX (KTRE) - Cleveland Police need your help to locate a murder suspect who is on the run.

Ramiro Contreras is wanted for a capital murder that happened in Cleveland on September 23, 2008.

Contreras is estranged from his wife Amy and according to Cleveland Detective Harry Kelly, Contreras killed his mother-in-law where his estranged wife was staying.

The brother was also shot, but survived and the sister was nearly beaten to death with a rifle.

That same night Contreras took his wife and four children hostage, but they are safe now and in protective custody.

Contreras is considered armed and dangerous and could be anywhere at this point.

He is 24 years old, 5'10" and 155 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and a light complexion.

He has scarring on the left side of his face and left arm.

He may be driving a burgundy-colored Pontiac Grand Am, license plate number FFS-944.
