Fire breaks out in Longview airplane hangar

LONGVIEW (KTRE) - A Dallas man is now in a burn unit after an airplane explosion in East Texas.

The man was reportedly running a static test on the Lear jet at East Texas Regional Airport in Longview when the explosion happened.

Workers at the Arrow-Smith hangar rushed to get the man out of the burning plane.

"They were extremely lucky that there was only the one injury with it being inside an hangar that way it's a miracle," said airport manager Virginia Hall. "It could have been a lot worse."

Officials say the man suffered burns on his arms and legs, but his injuries are not life-threatening. The exact cause of the explosion is still unknown.
