Union workers approve contract

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The new contract put forward by Lufkin Industries to its union workers has been approved by the union, and is now in place for the next three years.

The Boilermakers, machinists, and moulders all approved the Thursday night, and will return to work as normal on Friday.

Last Sunday, the union rejected the company's proposal, and agreed to a one-week extension to come up with a new contract so that they could avoid a strike.
