HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police Officer Randall Brooks just got home after picking up his kids from school. When he turned into the driveway, he noticed an unwanted guest on his property.
"I pulled in the driveway when I saw someone standing underneath my carport," Brooks said. "At first I thought it was my nephew, but when it was not, I knew I had someone who should not have been there."
As Brooks approached the man, he took off running through the back gate and out into the woods behind the house. Brooks chased after him and finally brought him to the ground just a short time later.
At that point, Brooks called the Huntington Police Department who came to his house and took the suspect to the Angelina County Jail.
"Thank the good Lord I went to work for Lufkin, where they taught me some very great restraint," Brooks said. "Because it's not easy to do when it's your own stuff, especially when you think about your kids and your wife."
