Last Chance to Vote Early

Friday is the last day to vote early in the November 4 election.

All around East Texas election officials are recording a steady flow of voters.

In Angelina County, early voting numbers have topped 15 thousand and counting.  If early voters keep that pace, the final numbers could easily surpass the 2004 early voting count (16,000), which was the last presidential election.  Angelina County has close to 49 thousand registered voters.  Tax Assessor-Collector Midget Sherman says her office is noticing a lot of first time voters for this election.

In addition to the national and state races, Angelina County has three locally contested races, Sheriff, Constable, precinct 3 and Constable, precinct 5.

Nacogdoches County is not far behind with close to 12 thousand early voting ballots cast last Thursday.  There are six locally contested races in Nacogdoches, District Judge, County Attorney, District Clerk, County Commission, precinct 1, Constable, precinct 2 and Constable, precinct 4.

Election officials have been going into work early and staying late in an effort to keep up with the heavy workload.
