NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Two Nacogdoches women have been indicted for hurricane fraud that allegedly took place after Hurricane Katrina.

Carol Ramsey and Sierra Bridges are charged with mail fraud and theft, and according to federal prosecutors, the women were lying to FEMA.

U.S. Attorneys say the women devised a scheme in which they used a former New Orleans resident's address and other identifying information to file a fraudulent claim for disaster assistance. In return, they got three disaster assistance checks.

If convicted, the women could face up to 20 years in federal prison, and a fine of up to a quarter of a million dollars.
