Nacogdoches, TX (KTRE) -
Student service organizations of S-F-A- lent a helping hand today. The "Big Event" was a way for the students to say thank you to the Nacogdoches community for all they've given to them. Nearly 200 students were out doing various projects from cleaning up yards to Helping Habitat for Humanity.
Michael Preston, the Student Life Director at Stephen F. Austin told us that they were hoping the Big Event woudld be "a catalyst for our community service effort where we're hoping every year that sfa students can contribute about 50,000 hours of community service and we're about half way to our goal now, so we feel real good about the service that they're doing and the fact that sfa students really wanna be a part of their community".
