'Jacks Roll in 55-7 Win Over Henderson State

The Lumberjacks rolled up 523 yards of total offense, including 230 yards on the ground in a 55-7 win over Henderson State before 10,855 fans at Homer Bryce Stadium Saturday night. Runnig backs Cliff Edwards and Tony Tompkins scored three times each as the 'Jacks cruised to the win.
Edwards, one of ten different Lumberjacks to carry the ball, chlaked up five carries for 25 yards and the three touchdowns on runs of 3,3, and 15 yards. Tompkins also rushed the ball 10 times for 89 yards, leading the team in that category. He scored on runs of 13 and 26-yards and also scored on a 59-yard punt return with 8:57 left in the fourth quarter.
QB Michael Williams finished the night going 7-12-0 for 106 yards, but also carried the ball three times for 30 yards including a 43-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Zeke Dixon also passed for 187 yards on an 8-12 night and connected with Thomas Williams for a 77-yard touchdown in the fourth qurter of play.
The SFA defense dominated play giving up only the one score and holding the Reddies to 278 yards of total offense. Braylon Lester led the charge with 10 tackles on the night. Nick Trotter also added 8 stops, including one tackle for a loss. Freshman defense end Brandon Mitchell also recorded 1.5 sacks in the game.
The 'Jacks return to action next week as they travel to Northern Iowa, kickoff is set for 4:05 p.m.
