Two men arrested on drug charges after chase are in court

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Lufkin and Diboll police departments had to work together this week to catch a couple of guys who were on the run with drugs.

One guy, was in court on Wednesday. Eddie Williams went before a judge and pleaded not guilty to the charges of felony possession or marijuana, evading arrest in a vehicle, and failure to identify.

Detective Brandon Lovell with Diboll PD told KTRE that a Diboll police officer started to pull over a car driven by Eddie Ray Williams and Tarrance Woods. It was going to be a speeding ticket, but the pair pulled away from the officer, then pulled over and ran from the car.

Both departments surrounded the area near Crown Colony, and caught the pair. They're charged with felony possession of marijuana, evading arrest in a vehicle, and failure to identify, because they gave false names to police at the scene.

Apparently, one of them tried to bury a bag of marijuana while they were in the woods, but DPS dogs from Nacogdoches were called in and found the buried bag.

Terrance Woods, is also still in jail on the same charges. He has two P-R bonds for five thousand dollars on evading arrest and failure to identify charges. If convicted both could serve two years jail time.
