Shaun Gilmore found guilty of three counts of felony racing

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches County jury has found Shaun Gilmore, 24, guilty of three counts of felony racing. Punishment phase of the trial will begin later this afternoon.

Gilmore was involved in a racing incident where three people were killed two years ago this month. He was convicted last month, but a mistrial was declared prior to punishment because of jury misconduct.

The SFA math major could receive two to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. The other racer, Antonio Martinez was found guilty in February of three counts of racing and three counts of intoxicated manslaughter. He's serving a 50 year sentence.

Kenneth Riehl II, 26, and Kenneth Thompson, 22, both of Lufkin were killed in the accident. Their parents have been present for each day of all trials. Jose Tamez,18, of Lufkin also died.
