LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - What a November for the Lufkin girls basketball team. The Lady Panthers are off to a 3-and-0 start and one of their seniors has signed on to play division one hoops. Brittany Maxey signed with Houston Baptist Wednesday morning.
Maxey has been a standout for Lufkin and raised her stock through A.A.U. basketball. Maxey chose H.B.U. over Southeastern Louisiana.
"I like the Christian base it has," Maxey says. "It's a private school and very good academic school."
Maxey plans on majoring in nursing. And the move to Houston will almost be like home.
"I have a lot of family in Houston," Maxey says. "It's not too far from home and I can come back and see my family they can come see play. The location is great."
H.B.U. will lose several seniors after this season and Maxey may have a chance to start her freshman season.
