Frying Fish for B.I.G. Love

Nacogdoches, TX (KTRE) - In Nacogdoches today, the South Nacogdoches County Volunteer Fire Department held a fish fry to raise funds and collect toys for the "B-I-G Love Cancer Care Toy Box."

B.I.G. Stands for Brook's Incredible Gift. Brook was a child who passed away from leukemia in September of 2006.

South Nacogdoches VFD Spokesperson,  Shelly Cassada says she knows first-hand what these toys mean to kids. "Anytime they go in to have blood work done or chemo treatment, or an x-ray, or anything, any type of treatment, it's scary for those children and if you can give them a toy and turn those tears into smiles, it's priceless."

Many of the toys will go to the Texas Children's Cancer Clinic in Houston, so all of the patients will be able to receive a toy after treatment. Donations will continue to be accepted by the South Nacogdoches County Volunteer Fire Fepartment.
