Lufkin, TX (KTRE) - 'Tis the season! East Texans are ringing in the holiday season with plenty of festivies and holiday cheer. Earlier tonight in Lufkin families gathered together and joined Santa in the lighting of Rudolph. The Rudolph the Red Nosed Pumping Unit is a fully functioning oil pumping unit and goes as high as 48 feet in the air. This lighting ceremony has become a tradition families eagerly look forward to.

One kid told us, "the whole family gets to enjoy and have fun and we get to eat cookies and milk and happy thanksgiving!" Folks in Nacogdoches also ushered in the holiday season tonight. Their Lighting and Opening ceremony downtown kicked off the 12th Annual Nine Flags Festival and marks the official start of the holidays in Texas' oldest town.
