LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A former nursing home aid is facing prison time because of the way she treated someone that she was supposed to be taking care of.

Marshalonda Kimble pleaded guilty to the charge of injury to an elderly person and will serve 180 days in prison. While working at Castle Pines Retirement Home, Kimble recklessly handled one of the residents, causing bodily injury.

According to Assistant District Attorney Art Bauereiss, it wasn't until recently that Kimble changed her plea.

"She actually plead not true to the allegation that she had injured the elderly person and that evidence was presented to a judge and he found that it was true," Bauereiss said. "And after that, about a month later, she changed her plea to guilty to the new offense."

Kimble will spend a total of two years in prison for all her charges, which include probation violation and drug charges.
