4th ranked Lufkin proved they are worthy of their top 10 ranking once again. The Panthers disposed of then 3rd ranked Katy in the season opener.
The Pack traveled to Aldine Saturday night, their opponent, number one Aldine Eisenhower, the other top team in the Houston area for the past decade.
Lufkin spotted Ike a 22-8 lead in the first half, but then came rallying Panthers. Just as they did so many times in last years state championship run, Lufkin proved that any defecit is never too large to overcome.
Eisenhower committed bad snaps on punts and Lufkin converted them into instant touchdowns.
The final result another Lufkin win, another victory over a top 10 program to their 2002 resume. When the final gun sounded, it was the Panthers in a mild upset 36-29.
The Panthers move to 3-0 after an open date a week ago. Former 12-5A rival, Marshall heads to Abe Martin Stadium this Friday for a Homecoming showdown.
