Early morning fire destroys Lufkin home

by Taylor Hemness

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin family lost everything this morning in a house fire that could have been deadly.

The fire started just after 4AM at the home on Brookwood Place. Juliet and James Holland were in bed when they heard the smoke alarm sounding. The sound woke them up, and they were able to get themselves and their three children out safely, but the home was a total loss.

Steve McCool with the Lufkin Fire Department tells KTRE that the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it appears to be accidental.

James Holland works at Diboll ISD, and the school has set up a fund to help the family recover. The account is at First Bank and Trust in Diboll.
