LUFKIN, TX(KTRE)- Online buyer beware, cyber criminals are targeting people that will be shopping tomorrow during "Free Shipping Day."
Hackers are pretending to be customer service personnel from businesses like Fed-Ex, UPS, and Walmart.
Phishing e-mails claim there are problems with delivery of your merchandise, and some even include false tracking numbers.
Instead of clicking on the link in the email, go directly to the shipper's website. Also, spelling errors are a way to catch bogus emails.
And don't buy into surveys offering holiday spending cash, they could possibly lead to a phishing site.
Consumers who receive suspicious emails should report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov
