Texas environmental champion dies at 92

DALLAS (AP) - Attorney and environmental activist Edward C. "Ned" Fritz, died today. He was 92.

Fritz was a co-founder of The Nature Conservancy of Texas and founder of the Texas Land Conservancy.

The state director of The Nature Conservancy of Texas says Fritz was often called the "father of Texas conservation."

According to the Texas Land Conservancy's Web site, Fritz helped form many environmental organizations, including Texas Committee on Natural Resources, Dallas Audubon Society and the Natural Area Preservation Association.
