NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The improper disposal of a 100 pound chlorine gas tank is under investigation in Nacogdoches County. Emergency workers are ruling out any immediate threat, but they do question the allegations. An employee of the Lilly Grove Water District told them today another employee was ordered by the boss to open up a rusted chlorine gas tank and empty its contents on the ground. Photographs showed the gas escaping. The complaintant says he attempted to stop the dangerous release, but could only help the employee run away from the fumes. Today they notified authorities who promptly went to the site off county road 811. Sheriff Thomas Kerss said chlorine gas is deadly and explosive. The fumes are dangers too. A haz mat company was called in to thoroughly investigate the scene for any dangers.
