LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Many friends and family are mourning the loss of a local philanthropist. Mrs. Emily Shelton, wife of the late Dr. Bill Shelton died Tuesday.
She will be most remembered as strong, dedicated woman, with a passion to help others. Shelton was a member of numerous organizations.
She was also a former board member of the Texas Medical Association. Shelton has made a tremendous difference in Lufkin's history, with the East Texas Museum and the Pinecrest Community. One thing she most loved, was being with her husband Dr. Bill Shelton, and enjoying his love for the outdoors.
Dr. Sid Roberts, a friend of the family says, "Emily claimed she never much cared for fishing but she was there side by side , all the his and hers fishing tournaments, all the fishing tournaments that we had. She'd like to say that he'd catch the fish but she would net them."
Funeral services for Shelton will be held at the First Baptist Church in Downtown Lufkin at 10 a.m.
