NACOGDOCHES, TX - Law enforcement officials located what is believed to be a suicide scene on the banks of LaNana Creek at mid-day Thursday.

Officials located a noose that had been fashioned from clothing, tied to a tree limb and more human remains in an area of LaNana Creek, south of East Main and east of the Hoya Soccer Fields.

"All evidence at this scene indicates an apparent suicide by hanging", said Sgt. Greg Sowell of the Nacogdoches Police Department. "The items used as a ligature appear to be the pants and shirt of the victim".

More human remains were found at this scene. The location was in a heavily wooded area on the east bank of Lanana Creek. Officials discovered the scene while conducting a search of the area. "This is in the same area where human remains have been discovered by the public over the past two months", Sowell said. "All of the evidence has been released to the FBI for analysis", he added.

The victim remains unidentified. Investigators believe that the victim is a white or Hispanic male 25 -50 years of age with medium length black hair that contains some gray. Any information concerning the possible identity of this victim should be directed to the Nacogdoches Police Department at 559-2607.

Participating in the search and recovery was the NPD, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) of the NPD.
