LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina College baseball team may want to add purple to their orange and blue jerseys. Head coach Jeff Livin has added two Lufkin Panthers. Seniors Chase Greening and Seth Thompson signed on with A.C. this afternoon. Greening and Thompson say A.C.'s new ballpark helped them make their decision. Both players turned down division one offers to play two more years in their hometown.
"Looking at SFA and some other division one's (schools) I just want to stay here at A.C.," Greening says. "Because I have good relationships with the coaches already. I feel like I can take it to the next level with them and stay with my buddy."
Thompson who turned down an offer from Northwestern State says it wouldn't be right to play without Greening.
"Since about six months old we've been friends," Thompson says. "So I think we can handle two more years."
Greening and Thompson will join fellow Panther John Tatum at A.C. Tatum signed last year.
