LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Reginald Horace has a weekend job, but the bad economy has him looking for a second one.  So, he goes to Work Force Solutions every day to look, but he chooses to look on the bright side.

"I have to realize that I have to take what I can get right now, until there's something more that I can pick up," Horace said.

So, what should you do when you are out of a job?

Business Services Specialist, Sandra Hopson said, "I think when a person is laid off, they need to go ahead and file for their unemployment first."

Your best bet of finding a job is to be prepared, and at workforce solutions you can kick-start your job search.

"The most important thing our customers need to do is prepare.  Customers need to...prepare themselves to kind of jump back in the game.   Looking for work should be, you need to make that a full time job," Managing Director of Work Force Solutions, Maria Kassabaum said.

Kassabaum stressed the importance of having an updated resume and cover letter.   She also said to remember you are competing for the job you are applying for. So, when you get ready to do an interview, do a little research on the company.

In the end, it may take a little work to get work, but Hopson, like Horace finds the silver lining.

"I think things are looking up, even though...we've been hit pretty hard with a lot of layoffs," Hopson said.
