Former Police Sergeant Pleads Guilty to Felony Theft

by Alex Carias

A former police sergeant with the Trinity Police Department has plead guilty to felony theft.

Steven Goodrow, 36,  plead guilty to that charge on Tuesday, October 22. According to Trinity County District Joe Price, investigation into the theft started several years ago after an arrest by a fellow officer in which over $1,500 was confiscated. That officer gave the money to Goodrow to file with the county. That money was never filed.

Goodrow confessed to taking a portion of the money and intended to replace it. He was terminated from the police force earlier this month. Goodrow received a sentence of 5 years probation, $1,000 fine and permanently volunteered to surrender his peace officers license.
