NACOGDOCHES, TX - A burglary/auto theft investigation has led to the arrest of a Nacogdoches man after a pursuit by Nacogdoches Police into Rusk County.

Johnny Wayne Ebarb, 27, of Nacogdoches has been arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and felony evading arrest after refusing to stop for Nacogdoches Police Officers that were attempting to stop him.

Ebarb was driving a 2001 Nissan Xtera that had been reported stolen by the owner earlier today. The vehicle was stolen in the burglary of a residence on Douglass Road.

NPD officers spotted the stolen vehicle on King Street at Logansport and attempted to stop it. The driver of the vehicle fled northbound on North Street, exiting the city limits and onto US 259. The pursuit continued north on 259, through Central Heights and on into Rusk County, through Mt. Enterprise. Just north of the intersection of US 259 and Texas 315 intersection, the suspect vehicle turned into a crossover and went back southbound on 259, through Mt. Enterprise, where the suspect turned onto Rusk County Road 3207, proceeding to US 84. The pursuit continued on US 84 back into Mt. Enterprise, where the vehicle turned southbound on US 259. The suspect vehicle stopped just south of Mt. Enterprise on 259 where Ebarb was taken into custody.

There were three attempts to deploy tire spikes. Each time, the suspect avoided them. Attempts were made by NPD at North Street and Industrial and by the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol at US 59/259 and on US 259 north of Mt. Enterprise.

"We really appreciate the help from the Nacogdoches and Rusk County officers, as well as the State Highway Patrol", said NPD Sgt. Greg Sowell.

There were no injuries or property damage.

Ebarb is also wanted on a felony probation warrant. Further charges against him may be forthcoming. He is in the Nacogdoches County Jail.
