EAST TEXAS (KTRE) - American Idol Season 8 is getting a lot of attention from East Texas Idol watchers because two of the Top 36 contestants are from here.

TV watchers are also paying close attention to the judges.  A new study conducted among 1,071 American Idol viewers revealed that Randy Jackson remains on top as number one judge.

The study was conducted by HCD Research on February 26, to obtain American Idol viewers' perceptions of the judges.

HCD Research will conduct a weekly study during the airing of American Idol Season 8 to measure how the judges' rankings change over time.

Who's your favorite judge?  Simon Cowell is notorious for his blunt and often controversial criticisms, insults and wisecracks about contestants and their singing abilities.  Randy Jackson, a Grammy Award-winning producer, is a 20-year music industry veteran and leads the viewer as favorite judge among A-I viewers surveyed.  Paula Abdul is one of the most recognized pop singers and choreographers of our day.  One of the industry's most sought after songwriters and producers, Kara DioGuardi's songs have appeared on more than 100 million records. With his thriving broadcasting career and multiple ventures in media, it's no wonder Ryan Seacrest is at the forefront of entertainment.
