East Texas gets millions in highway funding

The Texas Transportation Commission has approved nearly $15 million in projects throughout the Lufkin District's nine-county area to be funded under the economic stimulus package. The projects are slated to go out for bids in April with the work starting around June 1.

Among those projects are three in Nacogdoches County totalling more than $7 million and another in Angelina County that will cost more than $1.2 million.

Additional paving will also be done on FM 1818 in Angelina County.

Other counties that will benefit from the funding are Houston (SH 21), Polk (FM 2665, FM 3126 and FM 350), Sabine (FM 83), San Jacinto (FM 3081) and Shelby (SH 87 and FM 1970).
