A fire erupted in an Angelina County home Friday night just before 10pm in the Hanks Creek community near Lake Sam Rayburn.
Fire crews worked for more than two and a half hours to contain the fire and keep a propane tank next to the house from exploding.
Investigators say they're not sure yet what caused the fire.
Neighbors say Smokey and Mary Butler lived in the home with four children. The two that died were Steven Roberts, 9, and Shane Roberts, 5. Justice of the Peace James Holley says they died a few yards from each other from smoke and soot inhalation. The two children were there for foster care.
The mother of the two, Beth Roberts say they were slightly retarded. She is confused about the whole situation. She says "I just wants answers."
Roberts says CPS took the two boys from her home because two children she had been caring for died of sudden infant death syndrome. She says CPS was going to return the children on Tuesday, November 5.
