Police: Slaying of Nacogdoches man a drug deal gone bad

A Nacogdoches man was fatally shot in an alleged attempted robbery at his apartment Wednesday night, in what police say was a drug deal gone bad.

At approximately 7:44 p.m., three suspects went to the apartment of resident Charles Justin Frazar, 22, at Cambridge Court, to purchase marijuana, according to witnesses. During the transaction, one of the suspects pulled a handgun and was going to rob him of the marijuana.

Sergeant Greg Sowell said Frazar then grabbed a knife and charged the suspects, cutting two of them. The other suspect then fired his gun at Frazar, hitting him three times. Frazar then wrestled the gun away and shot one of the other two suspects, Sowell said.

One of the suspects fled and went to a hospital, Sowell said.

Frazar then went to the parking lot and was rushed to a hospital, where he died.

Nacogdoches police have charged three suspects with capital murder. Okeiron Bowser, 20, of Nacogdoches, is in a Tyler hospital and being treated for stab wounds. Marlon H. Randle, 27, of Nacogdoches, is in a Nacogdoches hospital and being treated for cuts and a gunshot wound. Mamarsh Guenn Odom II, 21, of Center, is slightly injured and in custody, Sowell said.
