ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A crash on a busy Angelina County roadway sent a woman to the hospital Thursday afternoon.

About 3 p.m. Thursday, emergency crews responded to a work zone on Highway 69 South near Zavalla in response to a crash. DPS Sgt. Hendry said that a 2013 Peterbilt semi-truck carrying a load of logs was stopped for road construction, facing north on the highway. A 2017 Ford SUV was also traveling north when the driver failed to control her speed, Hendry said, and crashed into the back of the log truck.

The driver of the SUV is identified as Connie Hugon, 68, of League City. She was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Conroe for treatment. Her condition is unknown.

The driver of the log truck is Grady Reese Jr, 61, of Lufkin. Reese was not injured in the crash, Hendry said.

The crash remains under investigation.
