NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The SFA basketball team this weekend went out and were able to buy presents for kids and the Nacogdoches area that were in need of gifts for Christmas. They also took time to personally wrap the gifts.
“It was really good,” guard John Comeaux said. “Giving presents gives us hope for others to be happy.”
The event has been done for several years. Some players know what to expect but others experienced it for the first time.
“We really just focused on getting stuff for the kids and wrapping presents,” Karl Nicholas said. “It was a good way to get our mind off the game. It is great to do it for kids who didn’t know if they were going to have Christmas this year.”
The event came less than 24 hours after the team lost 96-93 in overtime to Louisiana Tech. Head Coach Kyle Keller hoped his team would understand that the program he runs is more than just about basketball.
“Coming from where I come from we don’t get things and people don’t look to give things,” Comeaux said.
