FROM GARY STALLARD/ AC ATHLETICS
No trap games.
Not now, with the Angelina College Lady Roadrunners ranked 14th in the nation and climbing.
That’s why Wednesday’s home game against Jacksonville College – a team struggling with a 1-10 record – was more important than it may have looked on the schedule. Would the Lady Roadrunners get the least bit complacent?
AC’s answer was a resounding, “No”, as the Lady Roadrunners cruised to a 68-35 win at Shands Gymnasium.
The Lady ‘Runner defense held the Lady Jags to a nine-point first quarter and a four-point third in stretching AC’s current winning streak to six games and the season record to 16-1, 5-1.
Natasha Mack scored 12 of her game-high 22 points in the first quarter, adding eight rebounds, four assists and four steals in her 28 minutes of work. Britney Thompson added 15 points and four steals, Mia Perkins scored 11 and Mia Williams 10.
The Lady ‘Runners also converted 22 of 23 free-throw attempts and scored 22 points off 27 Jacksonville turnovers.
