Angelina County Sheriff: Man arrested, two detained after vehicle pursuit
ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office said a man was arrested Friday after he led deputies on a pursuit.
According to the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 9:50 p.m. Friday, deputies attempted a traffic stop on an older model Dodge van for a moving violation.
When a deputy activated the emergency lighting on his patrol unit, the vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit ensued.
The deputy pursued on FM 2251 to FM 843, turning right towards US Hwy 59. When they arrived at Highway 59, the suspect vehicle turned north and reached speeds of approximately 85 miles per hour.
The pursuit continued into Nacogdoches County, where the suspect vehicle drove into the median and then northbound on the southbound side.
The sheriff’s office said the suspect vehicle then crashed through a metal gate of a property on the west side of Highway 59 driving in to the woods for approximately 100 yards before coming to a stop and the driver fleeing on foot in the woods.
Two other suspects in the van were detained while a search for the driver began.
The driver was eventually identified as Jason Scott Adams, 37 years old of the Nacogdoches area and it was learned he had an outstanding warrant out of the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole for a parole violation on an original charge of aggravated robbery and was considered armed and dangerous.
The area was searched by ACSO Deputies as well as Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department deployed a drone equipped with thermal imaging and Adams was located and taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office said Adams is currently in the Angelina County jail awaiting arraignment on the charge of Evading Arrest or Detention w/Vehicle, a 3rd degree felony, in addition to the parole violation.
