LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -A Lufkin equestrian competitor will be heading to nationals this week.
14-year-old Reagan Peralta has been riding horses since she was two years old. She’s competed in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association for three years.
In IEA, you compete on a horse drawn at random and only get around a minute to practice before entering the ring.
Peralta has made it to zone finals three years in a row but didn’t qualify for nationals - until this year.
She credits her family for helping her accomplish this goal.
“It makes me feel so lucky to be able to have a family that supports what I do even though it is a very expensive sport and it takes a lot of time up. It’s definitely nice to have family support,” said Peralta.
Peralta will travel to Pennsylvania on April 27 - 28 representing zone 7, which includes Texas and other neighboring states at the national finals.
