SAN AUGUSTINE, TX (KTRE) - UPDATE: SH 21 East in San Augustine has been reopened for travel this evening following utility repair work by power companies. Drive safely.


Crews have shut down State Highway 21 East again as they set new power poles following Wednesday night’s tornadoes.

According to TxDOT Lufkin, State Highway 21 East from Highway 96 to Highway 147 in San Augustine is closed. It is reported the highway is closed so that crews can set new power poles.

The highway was closed as crews worked to clear storm debris and downed trees from the roadway.

The National Weather Service reported an EF-2 tornado passed through San Augustine Wednesday night, leaving behind significant damage to buildings and roadways.
