Nacogdoches Dragons looking to play spoiler in baseball playoffs

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches Dragons season was filled with ups and downs but in the playoffs anything can happen.

The Dragons finished the 16-5A district schedule at 7-7. They would need a season ending 7-6 win over No. 23 Lufkin just to get in the playoffs.

“We just started playing well lately," Nacogdoches baseball coach David Greer said. "We have that mentality. they kids are focused and buying in.they are doing what we need the to do and it is good to be playing at this point of the season.”

The Dragons will host game 1 of a best-of-three game series on Wednesday night against Lindale, the 15 5A District Champions.

“They have some pitching and put the ball in play,” Greer said, They had been in our district the past few years so we have a good idea about what they have and they have a good idea at what we have."

Greer has a simple message for his team. The playoffs don’t start on Wednesday because they have been in playoff mode for a while.

“Every game the past couple of weeks has been a playoff game,” Greer said. “We just have to limit our mistakes.”
