NEWTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 75-year-old woman escaped with nothing but minor injuries after her car went off the road in Newton County and wound up in a creek Sunday afternoon.

According to a press release, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to and investigated a one-vehicle crash that occurred just west of Burkeville on State Highway 63 at about 4 p.m. Sunday.

Preliminary reports show that Patsy Treadway, of Woodville, was driving a 2014 Nissan passenger vehicle west on SH 63 when the crash occurred. The driver told the investigating DPS trooper that she fell asleep, and her car wound up in a creek after she went off the road, the press release stated.

Treadway was taken by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital.

“Her injuries did not appear to be life threatening,” the press release stated.
