LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - New testimony was presented in the case against Billie Jean Cuttler on Tuesday. She and her boyfriend face capital murder charges for the 2015 death of Mason Cuttler.
A former psychiatric assistant took the stand, saying she interacted with Cuttler while she was at the North Texas State Hospital in Vernon. She testified Cuttler exhibited behaviors of a high-functioning patient. She believes Cuttler is able to cooperate with lawyers and understand courtroom procedures.
The defense questioned if the witness was qualified to speak on Cuttler’s competency since she didn’t take part in her psychiatric testing.
The hearing continues Wednesday morning.
