NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - An Angelina County justice of the peace has released the name of the 59-year-old Houston man whose body was recovered from Sam Rayburn Reservoir Tuesday morning.
Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Pat Grubbs said the man was James Michael Pate. The autopsy results are still pending. However, Grubbs added that she spoke with the Jefferson County Morgue, and it appears that Pate drowned. She said that more tests will be conducted to verify that.
According to a previous East Texas News story, Pate’s body was recovered at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Angelina County Game Warden James Barge said the man’s body was found just west of the Black Forest ramp near State Highway 147.
Game Warden Timothy Walker said a call came in around 8 p.m. Sunday about a missing person on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. He said the boat of a man believed to have been fishing on the lake washed ashore, but he was not inside it.
Crews from multiple law enforcement agencies took part in the search.
