HUDSON, TX (KTRE) - For the Hudson Hornets to get to the Regional Semifinals of the 4A UIL Baseball playoffs they will need to get past seventh ranked Robinson.
“That was a team we beat 29-29 in game three years ago and then they got us in 16 in a 3 game series,” Hudson coach Glen Kimble said. " It is going to be a fun series."
The Rockets enter the game at 26-4 on the year. Hudson enters the game 25-10. Hudson enters the game sweeping Palestine in Bi-District then beating Midlothian Heritage 2-1 in a best of 3 series in the Area Round. Robinson swept both Life Waxahachie and Madisonville.
“They are us with a lot of talent,” Kimble said. “They are well coached and play the game right.”
Hudson is averaging 9 runs a game this postseason on offense and only giving up 1.8 runs a game. Kimble and his team know those stats will most likely level out against Robinson.
“Our run output will probably come down,” Kimble said. “We will see some great pitching. Te kids have been swinging the bat well and our pitchers have been pitching well. This is when you want to get hot and we are hot.”
“We are going to have to string some things together like we have all season,” Hudson senior Cayden Innerarity said. " EWe have been doing it since we started. We will do doubles, we will do triples. This series we might have to put a few bunts down and make some simple plays that will turn out big in the end."
On the defensive side a good start on the mound should help get things going.
“It starts with the pitching,” Hudson senior Mason McDonald said. “It helps the defense. Everyone gets in rhythm and in tune. it just helps everything.”
