State Senate passes bills to honor those who served

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -Constable Darrell Lunsford Sr. took his last breath on U.S. Highway 59 in Garrison, and now a bill will go before Governor Greg Abbott to rename that highway in his honor.

HB1969 will designate a portion of State Highway 7 as the Bataan and Corregidor Veterans Memorial Highway to honor World War II Bataan Death March participants from Nacogdoches County.

The Deputy Sheriff Raymond Bradley Jimmerson Memorial Highway will honor the man who died in the line of duty on a portion of U.S. Highway 259 with his name.

State Highway 21 will be named after Sergeant Tom Sitton, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in 1996.

All four bills were authored by Nacogdoches State Representative Travis Clardy.
