Clear the Shelter in Nacogdoches offering free adoptions this year

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - On Saturday, May 18th Nacogdoches High School – National Honor Society will host its 3rd Annual CLEAR THE SHELTER! Clear the Shelter is an adoption event that will take place at the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For months, Nacogdoches High School students have been raising funds and collecting donations for the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter. The goal for this event is to have all the animals find their forever homes during the week of May 18th.

Andrea Castro, National Honor Society President for the Nacogdoches Chapter said, “We’re going to have free hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones."

There will be an added bonus.

"The Nacogodches Humane Society going to be paying for all adoption fees, including city tags and microchips if applicable,” explained Castro.

There are no residency requirements to adopt a pet. The new owner must agree to spay or neuter the animal and vaccinate, if necessary.

The Nacogdoches Animal Services is located on Southwest Stallings Drive in Nacogdoches.
